PRCS SWIMMING CARNIVAL 09' - 29/10/09' GIRL POWER ALL THE WAY! i was prepared for the worst; i knew i would have some swimsuit issues because mine seemed to be the type that people wear it when they go for scuba-diving. but what the heck! my point of attending is to have fun after a (nearly) whole year of facing dribs and drabs of notes and textbooks here and there. and i get bored after a while, so why not participate rather than get switched off when you are just at the swimming complex sitting around doing nothing. seriously, i only did it because i'm bored and i want to be doing something productive - LOL! the whole time, we were of course, nervous. the others kept saying that they were scared. furthermore, seeing that other teams were either an all boys or mixed did not help much in any way, making us feel more pressurised; more boys => more energy to push the float => faster => we are at a disadvantage anyway, i guess the fear have made us become more observant. since it started off with the lower sec, we get to see the drawbacks of doing the different swimming styles. i wanted to do free-style, but ended up doing breast-stroke. - it's part of our strategy. now, speaking about the arrangement, felicia had a gold certificate while xin ru had a lifeguards', leaving only me and rigel, considerably nothing to our name. we only reached the intermediate stage. HAHA! hence the arrangement, felicia - me - rigel - xin ru. i think felicia is really good at the start. i don't seem to respond well to the whistle or any horn which marks the signal "Go!". also, the 3/8 water polo team came down to support us. shane was saying something like "it's okay if you lose. as long as you are not the last..." . helping much? it is really good that the four of us are wearing spectacles after all. when we were told to assemble right next to where the lifejackets were, we felt like some cartoon character - the 3 blind mice. no, i meant 4. it was really hilarious when xin ru and i got to the wrong lane! their goggles had some degree but mine doesn't. i don't mind at all. it's just that i can still see the colours, though the shapes of everything i see became distorted. (!?!) then the competition started, and felicia zoomed past, neck to neck with 3/7. i jumped into the pool the moment she passed the first 3 blue lines closest to me. i helped her rotate the float jolin was on, set my feet firmly against the wall and kicked as hard as i could. jolin did exactly what she was told. the crowd roared but i wasn't sure what class was cheering for who. ahah, that's the beauty of being a blind mice in the pool - you can't see the eyes of the people watching you. Prize presentation; GOLD - 3/8 Fun Relay Team   "Ain! Why like that!" - credits to Maliah ( i looked wierd, i know - i was wearing 4 pieces of clothing. PE shirt, shorts, my scuba-diving-like swimsuit and the other one... i know you know that thingies) GOLD - 3/8 Water-Polo Team  the ones who practiced till 10pm a few days before (i wonder why the pict turned out small) That's all for now.. i will update soon. i will i will.
