arigatouu.. i woke up today, bright and early, at around 8am. i switched on the computer and took my own sweet time transferring songs and converting videos to put into my ipod. amaths class starts at 10, and so, i planned to leave home at 9.15am. i realised there was something wrong with my wrist watch. it seems to be moving rather slowly today. my suspicions were apparently confirmed when curry told me that it was 9.25am. oh right, other than amaths supplementary, we are also going on a trip to the science centre. at 1.45pm, 3/8 reached science centre. another class which came along was a sec 5 class. mrs low devided us into two. the odd people will be doing on some hydrogen-fuel cell experiment while the even people did on sulphur dioxide. me and curry are in the odds. anyway, somehow i got high and was really looking forward to walking into the lab where there was a lot of people in white coats. they are so-called the chemists, i guess. suddenly, i realised that i wasn't walking anymore when i reached the door. we were greeted by the presence of some some students from hwa chong institution. oh my! and problem was i had to lead the class just because i was in front. sheesh. i thought the start was rather boring. i was expecting something new. we were told to test for hydrogen by putting a magnesium strip into an acid. and that, to watch out about what kind of sound it makes and more details. i think we have tried and have been repeating the same experiments over and over. since sec one i think. i was amused at that time. i was complimenting mr seet that he was the first to make me discover such reaction. the whole experiment was quite bearable.. UHUH! and here comes the exciting part. we did an experiment on electrolysis. i only remembered that we've done electroplating last year.. electrolysis? never tried or witnessed it before. though, i only get to see it in my notes! which is not that interesting. look here.. i shared a table with melissa, joycelyn and siew han. it was a job well done. brief description on the observation: on the left, it is called the cathode. it attracts cat ions. realise that near the bottom, the colour is slowly changing from green to pale yellow. it suggests the increasing number oh H+ ions. hence is more acidic. on the right, it is called the anode. it attracts an ions. the colour has changed from green to purple which suggests the high number of OH- ions. hence, it is alkaline. below, was a failed attempt by amos's bench. there shouldn't be tints of blue. this happens when not enough salt is added to the solution. moving on to the maxwell theatre. an activity on green chemistry. learnt more about the greenhouse gases and more. oh, and it was hilarious when me, curry, afiqah and fatin were viewing from the top. we were looking at the people streaming in from both corners of the theatre. then, afiqah pointed out to a man dressed in brown. it was a MONK! and she went "what would a monk be doing in a science centre?" and we laughed and laughed. i think you can imagine what i'd be thinking by then. curry urged me to take a picture of him, but i insisted that she do it herself. i don't think it would be appropriate to upload it here though. the picture turned out blur anyway.. during the show, the scientists needed two volunteers. they chosed a pre-school boy who eagerly volunteered himself. and the other was a sec 5 crestian named adrie. the scientist placed some "magic noodles" and pieces of styrofoam in separate beakers filled with acid. the purpose was to see which one can dissolve in acid, hence is bio-degradable. it was clear to us that styrofoam is non-bio-degradable. anywho, adrie was given the beaker with styrofoam and the small boy, the one containing magic noodles which can slightly dissolve. and so, the female assistant was like asking him " is this the best you can do? put in more effort!" ahaha, and of course, the small boy was effortlessly stirring his solution, which seemed to dissolve. oblivious, adrie went to distract the small boy by lightly patting his shoulder. and the male scientist went "what is this? bullying ar?" the sec 5s were laughing now. worse is that, each participant was given a token. instead, adrie went for one of the beaker containing a carbonic liquid which changes colour instantaneously. of course, he was not allowed to take it home. it was used for demonstration in the first place.. AFTER THAT IS WAS AMAZING RACE! nevertheless, the four of us teamed up. and guess whose group came in first? it was none other than yours truly! HAH HAH! XD oh, then after we claimed our prize, we went around the second floor. i showed curry the magic harp thing. the one you can pretend to play on it.. without having the presence of strings! afiqah had a good luagh at herself when there is this machine which can change your face into an adult/baby-like/female/male. actually, the rest of us laughed hard as well that our stomachs hurt. i felt like peeing that i had to kneel down. it was damn funny~ we were bored, so we went searching for the place that afiqah wants to go.. here we are at the MIRROR MAZE . okay, thats all folks. i have to catch up with some homework. `AiN |
